Complete blood screening
Understanding the right path for the right person is important. The body can give us many signals telling us what is wrong, and with their help, doctors can see a very detailed picture. For example, the presence of certain molecules can show what is the source of inflammation, how the body is reacting, the general well-being of the bone, or if the natural cycles are going as they are supposed to. The best way to study this is through extensive bloodwork, the first step towards formulating the therapy.
Breath Test and Rootie
These two exams will give the doctors further information on the patient’s state of health. Despite the name, a breath test has nothing to do with the respiratory system: it is used to have more information on intestinal functions. The Rootie is used to monitor blood circulation and pressure, along with the sleeping cycles. We know that resting and, in particular, sleeping, is something that a person suffering from fibromyalgia has a real hard time with, and this will give doctors a detailed understanding of how this happens (or not) in a patient.
Genetic exams
With illnesses such as fibromyalgia, the cause can be found in factors like stress or metabolism. The latest research shows how the microbiota (the population of bacteria and fungi that live inside the human body) have a crucial role not only in our nutrition but, also, in our immune system, behavior, and disease. These exams will give a deeper insight into the patient’s microbiome (the genomes from all the microorganisms in the environment) assisting in the creation of a personalized path. It will be key in formulating the patient’s best diet and rehabilitation process.
Dexa Scan
A full body scan for a better understanding of the patient’s bone density, and BMI, will allow us to study their Bioelectrical Impedance Activity and their active force. A DEXA is a very sophisticated test that needs state-of-the-art equipment. Another important feature of the scan is that it shows how homeostasis works, which is the equilibrium between physical and chemical conditions in a living system.
Pharmaceutical plan
The doctor responsible for the patient’s eligibility will visit and monitor the treatment’s pharmacological side, consisting of 4 infusions in 4 separate days. The main focus being working on synaptic metabolism and damaged tissues.
It is important to underline that this is not just a doctor, but a university professor, and an expert in Rheumatology highly specialized in treating these conditions.
Health Coach
The specialist dedicated to monitoring muscular wellbeing measuring strength and mobility. They will coordinate with the nutritionist and create the best program for you to follow at home. With time, this will help the body regain its health thanks to targeted exercises. During the stay in Italy, the patient will see the Health Coach two times and, once back home, there will be another video appointment after 5 weeks.
Acupuncture
This ancient technique is now widely recognized in Western medicine as an option for treating chronic and musculoskeletal pain. After the recommendation to prefer non-pharmacological treatments in 2017, acupuncture became one of the preferred treatments in matters of pain management, as a response to the opioid crisis in the United States.
Nutritionist
After an interview and viewing the results from the tests taken by the patient, the doctor will suggest the correct diet to keep the inflammation under control. Not only: this doctor will specialize in the modulation of the microbiota and will design a diet based on the genetic test we have seen earlier. There will be a total of three appointments, the third of which will be through a video call with the patient back home. Another important brick is their well-being.
